Cannery Row
Cannery Row is a seaside street in Monterey, California, United States, home to many now-defunct sardine canning factories. The last cannery closed in 1973. The street's name, formerly a nickname for Ocean View Avenue, became official in 1958 in honor of John Steinbeck and his famous novel, Cannery Row. In the novel's opening lines, Steinbeck describes the street as "a poem, a stink, a cacophony of noise, a quality of light, a tone, a habit, a nostalgia, a dream." Cannery Row has become a popular tourist destination. Not only has the stink disappeared, but the street is now lined with restaurants and shops, and offers a beautiful view of the ocean.

17-Mile Drive
The west and south sides of 17-Mile Drive border the Pacific Ocean, while the east side winds through the Del Monte fir forest. Along the way, you'll see not only beaches but also spectacular luxury villas and golf courses.
